One of the undoubtedly most important issues of today’s world is constructing a future narrative around limited resources and the human-nature relationship axis. Textiles, in particular, permeate every aspect of our lives. Textile manufacturers preparing for the coming years are seeking new alternatives and materials in line with demands for their production within these limited resources and climate conditions.
The HOMETEX 25/26 Trend Area welcomed visitors with a comprehensive exposition of global trends, offering insightful responses to the industry's ongoing pursuit of innovation and direction between 21-25 May, 2024.
HOMETEX 25/26 trends examined the trends of the coming year under four main headings: bio design, biomaterials, recycling technologies, and artificial intelligence.
“Redefined” highlights the future of materials by following the footsteps of material research and experiments, indicating a period where both materials and production are reshaped in textiles. The long-standing climate crisis, limited resources, and economic issues have also reshaped consumption habits. As consumer sensitivity towards natural materials and production increases, designers and manufacturers are increasingly focusing on the issue.
“Recollection” emphasizes a timeless approach where old and new elements coexist. This approach encapsulates renewable, interchangeable, and functional elegance both in form and concept. Soft transitions among dominant tones create a reality that merges the old with the new by virtue of its created memory. It also focuses on concepts such as recycling and upcycling.
”Reflexive” creates a new perspective with sunlight reflections and refractions, open natural tones, and flexible compositions. The theme highlights the use of biodegradable materials in textiles, particularly calling for a rural and nature-focused way of living.
”Replaceable” focuses on future technologies in home textiles alongside technological advancements. It stands on a contemporary line that utilizes smart textiles, artificial intelligence, multifunctional designs, and dominant colors.
